LMU EC Lab

MISSION:
We support the creation of successful ventures

ACTIVITIES:
Support founding teams in and around the LMU München

GOAL: To accompany 30 founding teams per year

IMPACT: Successful start-ups

lmu_ec_lab The LMU EC Lab is the place for promising early-stage start-up teams to test and initiate the implementation of their business ideas.

While in the Lab, teams finalize their business plans, build prototypes and implement first market tests to verify the value of their ideas.

The LMU EC currently supports twelve teams , e.g., in the areas of web 2.0, regenerative medicine, software, mobile services, clean technology and nanotechnology.

Material support: Entrepreneurs in the LMU EC Lab receive material support (professional office space, access to conference rooms, modern IT equipment and more) and benefit from the full range of services offered by the LMU EC. Based on the type of project and advancement, Lab teams may utilize the Lab facilities for 6 to 9 months.

Mentoring: Each LMU EC Lab team is matched with an internal advisor to help with the structuring and implementation of their business idea. Furthermore, Lab teams can benefit from the Center’s extensive professional network. These include mentoring by industry specialists and venture capitalists, as well as access to scientific, legal and financial advice.

Networking opportunities: Lab teams have many opportunities to network at events organized by the LMU EC, such as at the regular "IdeenJam!" (a joint initiative by the LMU EC, the LMU Spin-off Service and TEG – The Entrepreneurial Group, a student initiative).

Continuing education through seminars: Continuing education is ensured through seminars, during which participating Lab teams can train their soft skills and improve their know-how in the fields that are essential to them, for example protecting intellectual property, choosing the appropriate legal structure, managing growth or presenting to venture capital firms.

Help in obtaining funding: The LMU EC supports Lab teams in their efforts to obtain funding as well. Lab teams receive individual counseling in applying for government grants together with the LMU Spin-off Service, a division of the LMU’s Technology Transfer Office, and are introduced to investors from the LMU EC network on a targeted basis.

The LMU EC plans to support up to 30 Lab teams per year, some located in-house and others as "virtual" teams (e.g., teams using university research laboratories in conjunction with LMU EC support).

The LMU EC Lab is just one of the many ways the LMU EC supports entrepreneurs. For a complete overview of LMU EC offerings, please consult the section Founders Support.
