Brief description of the business idea:

We are currently developing a compact source, emitting protons and neutrons. Our first aim is to commercially produce short-lived radioactive isotopes by exposing certain elements to a flux of nucleons. The generated isotopes can be of medical use for the production of so-called radiopharmaca (for instance as markers in PET-examinations). Compared to the technology currently in use in clinics, our device will significantly reduce purchase- and maintenance-costs and the storage capacity needed.

In a second stage further applications of our device – with slight modifications – are possible, for example analyses of ores in mining, measurement of layer thicknesses, radioscopy of luggage at airports and, with focused rays, radiotherapy for patients.

In spring 2007 we ran through the first series of tests in rooms the university of Munich, LMU, had kindly let us have. In the mean time, we have transferred to the Max Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik in Garching, which is granting us access to its infrastructure and where work on a prototype is progressing.

Besides we are in contact with the Klinikum Rechts der Isar, one of the two great university hospitals of Munich, where the first clinical tests of our technology can begin in the medium term.

So far we have been distinguished twice in regional and nation-wide business ideas contests.
