Structure

The LMU EC is formally established as a university-wide center of the LMU Munich. The university has also established the foundation “Stiftung für Entrepreneurship an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München”, a not‐for‐profit trust that will provide long-term funding to the Center. The Foundation operates the “Gesellschaft zur Förderung von Entrepreneurship an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München mbH” (GmbH), a for‐profit subsidiary to support commercial application as well as providing professional services.
This governance framework ensures academic standards and freedom while also allowing for entrepreneurial activity in support of the Center’s aims.
The Foundation will actively seek philanthropic support and partnerships and build an endowment base to ensure long‐term viability of the Center. The Board of Trustees includes senior university and business leaders. The Foundation and Center will also appoint leading international experts to the Advisory Board.
The GmbH will work closely with commercial investors and corporate sponsors to develop investment resources and sponsorship revenue. Profits from the GmbH will support the Foundation and will enable the LMU EC to become self‐funding over time. The activities of the GmbH are overseen by the Foundation.
